On 13 May 2011, the Nobel Peace Center opens a new exhibition called TRANSIT in collaboration with the award winning photographer Espen Rasmussen. The exhibition will tell stories of refugees and internally displaced people in different parts of the world. Through photographs, films, sound-tracks and Rasmussen's conversations with refugees, TRANSIT aims to give visitors insight into the lives of people on the run. What are the challenges they face, and what makes them keep on up hope?

TRANSIT also presents Fridtjof Nansen and his efforts to help prisoners of war, victims of famine and refugees in the early years of the 20th Century. Fritdjof Nansen was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1922 for his humanitarian efforts.
