Scott at The Fram MuseumThe exhibition tells the amazing story of the Terra Nova Expedition 1910 – 1913 and contains a large number of the striking photos and original artifacts from the expedition. Opens 7 June. Explorer Amundsen subject of new commemorative coinsThe silver $5 coin and the gold $5 coin honor the 100th anniversary of Amundsen’s conquest of the South Pole. Commemorative flightAntarctica Sightseeing Flights offers a commemorative flight in conjunction with the centenaries of the South Pole Expeditions of Amundsen (1910-1912) and Scott (Terra Nova 1910-1913) and Douglas Mawson’s 1911-1914) Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Sing for the penguinsJørgen Amundsen and his crew are heading to Antarctica on an expedition to follow in the spirit of Roald Amundsen. The focus is on the coming 100 year's challenges – the environment. . The penguin is the symbol of our efforts to raise awareness on these matters. On 16 December 16th they will be giving the penguins their very own concert. You can join the choir! Angelina Jolie and Sivert Høyem at the Nansen Award 2011Wednesday evening TV2 is broadcasting the Nansen Award 2011 with superstar Angelina Jolie and Sivert Høyem on stage. Siri Lill Mannes leads the show with the legendary war reporter Martin Bell. New Nansen biographiesThis fall, Norwegian-speaking Nansen enthusiasts can enjoy two more biographies of the polar hero. In September, both Gyldendal and Cappelen Damm released new biographies of Fridtjof Nansen. Vogt’s book covers all aspects of Nansen’s life, whereas Jølle’s book is focused mainly on Nansen as a scientist.
