News: 2011Commemorative flightAntarctica Sightseeing Flights offers a commemorative flight in conjunction with the centenaries of the South Pole Expeditions of Amundsen (1910-1912) and Scott (Terra Nova 1910-1913) and Douglas Mawson’s 1911-1914) Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). Sing for the penguinsJørgen Amundsen and his crew are heading to Antarctica on an expedition to follow in the spirit of Roald Amundsen. The focus is on the coming 100 year's challenges – the environment. . The penguin is the symbol of our efforts to raise awareness on these matters. On 16 December 16th they will be giving the penguins their very own concert. You can join the choir! In September, both Gyldendal and Cappelen Damm released new biographies of Fridtjof Nansen. Vogt’s book covers all aspects of Nansen’s life, whereas Jølle’s book is focused mainly on Nansen as a scientist. The Fram Museum celebrates its 75 th birthday in 2011In connection with Fridtjof Nansen’s 150th birthday and the 100th anniversary of Roald Amundsen’s attainment of the South Pole in 2011, the Fram Museum will organize a series of projects to commemorate these important events. At the same time the museum is undergoing a comprehensive modernization to offer the visitors new permanent exhibitions and better facilities.
