The magazine Frimerkeposten writes about the new stamps that are being relases April 15th in connection with the Nansen-Amundsen-Year 2011. The stamps are designed by Enzo Finger.

One stamp is featuring Fridjof Nansen as a humantarian and his work for refugees. Nansen was a scientist, humanitarian and peace activist, and he also received the Nobel Peace Prize in1922.

The jubilee of the South Pole Expedition is marked with the relase of two stamps. One is featuring Amundsen and his men at the South Pole on December 14th 1911, the other is featuring the polar ship «Fram» and Greenland dogs.

Other philatelic releases in connection with the anniversary

Posten Norge will also mark the 75th anniversary of the Fram Museum with the release of a pre-stamped postcard on April 15th. On May 20th, the day of the celebration, a custom postmark will be used.

The new album "Nasjonale helter" is written by Per Egil Hegge and illustrated with stamps,as well as photographs and objects provided by the Fram Museum. The album will also contain space for an envelope stamped at the South Pole by the expedition Sørpolekspedisjonen 1911-2011. The expedition is a dissemination project by the Norwegian Polar Institute that aims to convey important aspects of Norwegian polar history and also focus on climate and environmental problems of our time.
